On 25 June 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added three new chemicals to the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs), bringing the total to 250 substances.
These recent additions include two siloxanes - widely used in cosmetics, personal care, and industrial formulations - for being very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB), and one azo dye recognized as a reproductive toxicant. The inclusion of these substances carries immediate implications:
Communication obligations: Suppliers of articles with over 0.1 % (w/w) of any SVHC must inform recipients - including Yisi’s customers - about safe handling and use.
SCIP notifications: Articles with SVHCs above the threshold must be registered in the SCIP database to support traceability from production to recycling.
Safety Data Sheet updates: Manufacturers and importers must revise SDSs for mixtures and substances containing these chemicals.
Ecolabel eligibility: Inclusion in the SVHC list disqualifies a product from receiving the EU Ecolabel, impacting sustainability marketing.
Following the update, EU players have six months (by 25 December 2025) to comply with notification duties. For Yisi Company and similar enterprises, this means promptly:
Auditing product portfolios to identify any SVHC presence.
Updating supplier declarations and internal documentation.
Issuing notifications to both ECHA (SCIP) and customers.
Ensuring SDS and labels reflect the new safety requirements.
Enhanced transparency: Clients will receive clear information about SVHC content, reinforcing trust and supporting regulatory compliance.
Smoother market access: With timely documentation, customers can avoid supply chain delays and meet EU import requirements seamlessly.
Sustainability alignment: Early action helps maintain or regain eco label eligibility and strengthens environmental credentials.
Risk reduction: Proactive management reduces legal liability, reputational exposure, and potential enforcement penalties.
In summary, the jump to 250 SVHCs under REACH is more than a regulatory milestone - it’s a compliance checkpoint. By staying ahead, Yisi Company empowers its customers with safer, fully documented products, reinforcing your position as a trusted and forward thinking EVA case supplier.
